Ingreadient
  • 1 cup sabudana (tapioca pearls)
  • 1 medium potato (boiled & diced)
  • 1/2 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tbsp roasted peanuts (coarsely crushed)
  • 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp ghee or oil
  • 8-10 curry leaves (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp rock salt (sendha namak) or regular salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
Instructions
  1. Soak the sabudanaSoak the sabudana
    • Wash it thoroughly until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
    • Soak it in enough water to just cover sabudana for 4-5 hours or overnight.
    • To check if it has been soaked properly, squeeze a pearl between your fingers-it should break easily and not be sticky.

    • Boil and dice the potato.
    • Roast the peanuts and coarsely crush them.
    • Chop the green chilies and coriander leaves.
  3. Cook the KhichdiCook the Khichdi
    • Heat ghee or oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

    • Add chopped green chilies and curry leaves, sauté for a few seconds.

    • Add boiled potatoes and green peas, cook for 2-3 minutes.

    • Add soaked sabudana and crushed peanuts, mix well.

    • Season with rock salt and black pepper, stir gently on low flame.

    • Cook on medium-low heat (around 160-180°C) for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sabudana turns translucent.

    • Turn off the heat and add lemon juice & chopped coriander leaves.

    • Serve hot and enjoy!
